After the port is set and DCS has been installed and enabled, you can test to see if the specified IP address is accessible and if the DCS server at the location is active. To test this:

  1. In the Configuration module, select Distributed Centera Services from the Disk Mgmt | Distributed Services menu. The Distributed Centera Services Setup dialog is displayed.
  2. Select the appropriate list item and click Ping. A request is sent to the selected server to test if the service is running and connected to the specified port. The Server Info dialog box is displayed:

    This dialog contains the following information:

    Item

    Description

    Workstation Name

    Name of the workstation that is running DCS .

    DNS Name

    The fully qualified domain name of the workstation running DCS .

    IP Address

    The IP address of the workstation running DCS .

    Version

    The DCS version that is running on the server.

    User Name

    The user account under which the DCS server is running.

    Note:

    If the distributed services server is running under Linux, the User Name is always root.

    Application Type

    The type of distributed services server that is running.

    Application Mode

    Whether the distributed services server is running as an Application or a Service.

    Platform

    The operating system of the machine running the DCS server.

    TCP response time (ticks)

    The number of milliseconds it took to send a request to the server and get a response back using TCP discovery. This measures the responsiveness of the machine across the network.

    UDP response time (ticks)

    The number of milliseconds it took to send a request to the server and get a response back using UDP discovery. This measures the responsiveness of the machine across the network.

If this dialog also contains the message The server software is out of date. Please update it with a newer version. you must upgrade to the version specified in the System Status window of the OnBase Client, as shown in this illustration that uses DDS as the example:

If you are using DCS, Centera 3-Tier Loaded is listed in the System Status dialog.
