  1. Copy the CenteraService.exe server executable to a server where the Disk Group copies are stored.
    Note:

More than one Distributed Services server (e.g., DDS, DCS, DTS, DDTS) cannot run at the same time on the same server. For example, if Distributed Disk Services detects that Distributed Tivoli Services is already running on the server, DCS will not start. The one exception to this is when using the -configmode switch when starting a Distributed Service.

  2. Copy the Centera SDK *.dll files to a folder within the PATH environment variable, such as the system32 directory.
    Note:

Storage Integration for EMC Centera® requires the 32-bit version of the EMC Centera SDK under both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. For 64-bit operating systems, the 32-bit files must be copied to a folder within the PATH environment variable, such as C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ or C:\Program Files(x86)\.

  3. Create a shortcut to the Distributed Centera Service executable.
  4. Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties.
  5. Append -ODBC=<datasource> to the end of the Target field, where <datasource> is the ODBC connection to the database.
    Tip:

See Command-Line Switches for additional command line switches that can be applied to the shortcut.

  6. Click Apply, then click OK.
  7. Run the DCS server program by double-clicking on the shortcut
    Note:

When running under Windows Server 2012 R2, the server must be launched with elevated user permissions by right clicking the shortcut and selecting the Run as administrator option. You may be prompted to input the administrator user name and password.

  8. Right-click on the DCS server system tray icon and select Open Console.
    Note:

The Distributed Centera Service console can only be launched from this icon. The Distributed Centera Services icon is only available in the system tray if DCS is running as an application or if it is running as a service under the System account and the Windows Allow service to interact with desktop service setting is selected.

  9. The Distributed Centera Services Server dialog box is displayed.
  10. If the DCS server is not automatically enabled, click Enable.
  11. Distributed Services servers must be configured in the OnBase Configuration module prior to use, including command-line switches and the rotation of the encryption key for new installations. See .
