The text cross-reference matches a text value in the body of the current document (that must itself be a text file format) to a document that either contains the same text in its text body or the same text value in one of its Keyword Values.
The text cross-reference was designed for cross-referencing of documents that do not necessarily have common Keyword Types. Since the value used for cross-referencing comes from text in the body of the current document, a direct Keyword Type-to-Keyword Type comparison is not required. Specifically, two variations of text cross-referencing can be configured:
-
Text Cross-References Based on a Text Search
If this option box is checked, the Keyword Type drop-down will not be available. This variation directs OnBase to search only the body of the text documents configured for retrieval. A variety of character and space stripping options can be applied to the identified, or "clicked" text.
-
Text Cross-References Based on a Keyword Type
This variation directs OnBase to compare the identified, or "clicked" text against Keyword Values stored for the retrieved documents for the selected Keyword Type.
In either case, a specific portion of text in the body of the current document must be identified, in order to initiate the cross-reference.
