Certain system processes require locks. If the system is closed unexpectedly while a user was performing a process, you will need to remove the lock to end the process.

In the event the system closes unexpectedly while you are running a process, you may be prompted to remove the lock upon logging in to OnBase.

You can also remove process locks by manually accessing Process Lock Administration from the OnBase Client.

CAUTION:

Before removing a process lock, ensure the system user is not using the process. Undesired behavior, including data loss, can occur if you remove a lock for an active process.

To remove a process lock:

  1. From the OnBase Client, select Admin | Utilities | Process Lock Administration.

The Process Lock Administration dialog box is displayed.

    • The Lock Type indicates the type of process that was running when the lock occurred. Anytime a process is configured for printing, indexing, committing, purging, re-indexing, caching, or document management a lock is put in place. The Lock Type can also indicate a Disk Group lock, which is put in place when a Disk Group is being managed by the system or configured by an administrator.

    • The Key Value column displays the batch number for the process.

    • The User Name is the user name of the user who was processing when the lock was applied.

      Note:

Depending on your system configuration, the real name of the user may be displayed in the User Name column.

    • Date Locked and Time Locked indicate the date and time that the lock was placed.

    • You can right-click and select Refresh to update the display to show any changes that have occurred while the dialog box is open. The process that was locked should automatically disappear from the dialog box when the process that placed the lock has finished.

  2. If the completed process did not remove a lock, you can manually remove it by highlighting the lock, right-clicking and selecting Remove.
    CAUTION:

Before removing a process lock, ensure the system user is not using the process. If the process is running, a dialog box displays a warning that the lock is for an active process. Undesired behavior, including data loss, can occur if you remove a lock for an active process.

The Lock Type, Key Value, User Name, and Date & Time Locked columns are sortable by clicking on the heading.

    Note:

If a Folder is locked by another user, documents can still be added to the Folder.

    Tip:

You can select multiple process locks simultaneously by pressing the SHIFT or CTRL key while clicking on a process lock.
