The Path Redirection functionality allows you to solve inconsistencies that occur when multiple workstations map network drives differently. Path redirection causes the system to replace part of the path string with another string, whenever a file is retrieved. This capability is particularly useful in operating systems that do not support UNC paths.
Using path redirection greatly increases the time it takes to open a file. Path redirection should be used only when necessary.
If all your workstations are capable of using UNC paths, configure your Disk Groups to use UNC paths and avoid path redirection entirely. Path redirection is used specifically for mapped network drives.
To access the Path Redirection options, right-click on the Client module desktop and select Workstation Options or select User | Workstation Options. Select the Path Redirection tab.
