For certain system configurations and/or printer drivers, the Default Paper Source and Default Paper Size settings configured in the Print Format dialog box may not produce the required printout. In these instances, a user-defined paper source and/or user-defined paper size will need to be identified.
A custom paper size can be configured in a Print Format for use from any workstation. Any workstation that uses that Print Format in a print request will obtain their printout on the same custom paper size.
Note:
This configuration routine requires the use of a PRTEST.exe program that must be obtained from your technical support representative.
- In the Configuration module, select Printing | Print Formats.
- Select the print format that will be used with the printer being configured, and make the appropriate selections at the Default Paper Source and Default Paper Size drop-down lists (these settings are what the system checks first).
- Run PRTEST.EXE on the machine that is the Print Server (-PS Client).
- Select a driver in PRTEST.EXE under Installed Printers.
- In the Print Queue Mapping dialog box (Client module - User | Workstation Options), check to see which driver is mapped.
- Select the same driver identified in Step 4 in PRTEST.EXE.
- After selecting the driver, a listing of Supported Bins is produced.
- Select Printer Properties | Paper/Quality | Tray Selection | Paper Source and choose the required paper source.
- Select the same source as Step 7 in PRTEST.EXE Supported Bins.
- Use PRTEST.EXE to print a test page to confirm the settings.
- Identify the Supported Bins value from PRTEST.EXE
- In the Configuration module, select Printing | Print Format | Settings and select User Defined for the Default Paper Source, specifying the value that was identified in Step 10.
