It is recommended that a separate user account be created to use OnBase as a Windows service, with only the permissions explicitly needed by the service. This user account cannot be configured as a service account in OnBase.

You can check to see if your account is configured properly by opening the configuration module and navigating to Users | User Names/ Passwords | Settings. Ensure that all necessary permissions are selected, and that the Service Account checkbox is not selected.

Note:

The user account will respect the settings of the User Group to which it belongs. Ensure the user account is a member of a User Group with the appropriate settings.

CAUTION:

When performing a global password reset, the password for any user accounts configured to run OnBase as a Windows service must be changed manually.

Before a user account can be used to execute a service process, it must be granted the Log On As Service privilege on the local machine. To do this:

  1. Select Start | Control Panel.
  2. Double-click on Administrative Tools.
  3. Double-click on Local Security Policy.
  4. Expand Local Policies.
  5. Double-click on User Rights Assignments.
  6. Double-click on Log on as a service.
  7. Add the appropriate accounts.
  8. Click OK.
    Note:

It may be desirable to create a new distinguished account solely for the purpose of running the services.
