Encrypted data is analyzed and can be converted from the Cryptography Settings dialog box. In order to access the Cryptography Settings dialog box, the user logged in must have the following rights:

  • System Configuration configuration right (under General Settings)

  • Database Management product right (under Configuration)

To analyze and convert the data affected by the current cryptography settings:

  1. Select Utils | Cryptography from the OnBase Configuration module. The Cryptography Settings dialog box is displayed.
  2. Click Analyze Data. The data is analyzed using the current settings saved in the database. If you have unsaved changes to the cryptography settings, the Save Changes? prompt is displayed.
    CAUTION:

If you have unsaved changes you cannot analyze the data until the settings have been saved. However, in some cases saving the cryptography settings cannot be reverted. Be sure to carefully read any prompts that are displayed to ensure the changes to your system are acceptable before you save them. See Changing the Encryption Suite and Version Compatibility before saving changes to the cryptography settings.

  3. Click an option at the Save Changes? prompt:
    • Yes: Save any changes to the cryptography settings and analyze the data.

      CAUTION:

In some cases saving the cryptography settings cannot be reverted. See Changing the Encryption Suite and Version Compatibility before saving changes to the cryptography settings.

    • No: Do not save changes made to the cryptography settings and analyze the data using the current cryptography settings saved in the database.

    • Cancel: Do not analyze the data.

The Analyze Encrypted Data dialog box is displayed. The information in the dialog box is divided into the following columns.

    Column Name

    Description

    Data

A brief description of the data affected by the cryptography settings.

    Total Entries

The total number of instances in the database of that type of data.

    Convertible

The number of instances of that type of data that can be converted to the currently saved cryptography settings from the Analyze Encrypted Data dialog box.

    Non-Convertible

The number of instances of that type of data that cannot be converted to the current cryptography settings from the Analyze Encrypted Data dialog box.

    Tip:

You may be able to covert these instances using other methods. See Cryptography Settings Additional Considerations.

    Conforming

The number of instances of that type of data that already conform to the current cryptography settings and do not need to be converted.

  4. Click Convert to convert the data. If an instance of data is convertible it is converted to conform to the currently saved cryptography settings. Data that already conforms is not converted again.
    Note:

Not all data can be converted from the Analyze Encrypted Data dialog box. For example, the Cryptography Settings do not affect the encryption method used by Encrypted Disk Groups or Encrypted Alpha Keyword Types and this data cannot be converted from the Analyze Encrypted Data dialog box. See Cryptography Settings Additional Considerations.
