You can configure database settings that affect areas such as searching a database or upgrading a database. You may not see all options described in this section depending on the product rights your user account is assigned.

To configure database settings:

  1. In the OnBase Configuration module, select Utils | Database | Database Settings.
    Note:

Depending on the products rights assigned to your user account, this menu option may not be available.

The Database Settings dialog box is displayed.

    Note:

Depending on the product rights assigned to your user account, some or all of the options in the Database Settings dialog box may not be available.

  2. Select the System Settings tab. The following settings are available:

    General

    Description

Perform security keyword checking during database query

Allows the Document Search Results or Folders Search Results lists in the OnBase Client to list only those documents that the retrieving user has rights to view based on the Security Keyword Values configured. This option is set by default when you create a new database.

When this option is not selected, the following occurs:

    • In the OnBase Client, if a document is retrieved from either the Document Search Results or Folders Search Results lists and does not have the appropriate Security Keyword Value associated with the document, the document is listed as Restricted. The user can know that the document exists, but the user is unable to view the document or the document attributes.

    • In the Web Client and Core-based applications, documents that the user has rights to view based on the configured Security Keyword Types are always displayed. Documents that do not meet security requirements are not displayed with the Restricted label regardless of whether this setting selected.

    Note:

When this option is selected or the Web Client or a Core-based application is used, a User who is assigned to multiple User Groups with each User Group assigned a different value for the same Security Keyword Type may see the same document multiple times in the Document Search Results list when searching for the document associated with the Security Keyword Type.

Multiple Not Equal Security Keyword Types should not be used when this option is selected.

    Note:

When this option is selected, documents with null values for a Not Equal Security Keyword Type will not be displayed for viewing.

Prevent this database from being upgraded

Prevents the database from accidentally being upgraded or changed without proper authorization.

When this option is selected and a user tries to log on to the Configuration module with a newer version of OnBase that requires an upgrade, the user receives a standard database mismatch warning message and the following message:

This database can not be upgraded because of a system setting. Please contact your system administrator.

In this case, the system administrator must log on to the previous version of the Configuration module and deselect this option before the database can be upgraded.

If someone tries to upgrade a database when this setting is selected, a message is added to the Transaction Log, specifying the user/workstation that tried to upgrade the database, the version of the configuration that made the attempt, and the before and after version of the database.

Use Stored Procedure to Generate Unique Values

Enhances OnBase Client performance in some systems by reducing calls to the database. For example, performance can be increased in systems operating on a Wide Area Network (WAN), systems that modify a large amount of keyword data through Workflow actions, and systems that employ alphanumeric dual table Keyword Types.

    Enable database compatibility for Publishing

Enables database compatibility for Publishing. For more information, see the Encrypted CD/DVD Publishing or Export & Publishing documentation.

Prevent leading wildcards in keyword database queries

Prevents users from entering a wildcard as the first character when executing a Document Retrieval search. This option is selected by default.

If the user performing the query has the Override Query Restrictions product right, this option is not respected.

    Note:

If you select the Prevent leading wildcards in keyword database queries and the Prevent trailing wildcards in keyword database queries options, users cannot enter a wildcard character in any location when executing a Document Retrieval search.

Prevent trailing wildcards in keyword database queries

Prevents users from entering a wildcard as the last character when executing a Document Retrieval search.

    Remove Retrieval Query Hints

Removes query hints from queries made to the database. This option is only available when using an Oracle database, and is selected by default.

    CAUTION:

Disabling this option can cause a significant decrease in retrieval performance.

    Transaction Logs

    Description

    Global Tracing Level

A Tracing Level is applied to Transaction Logs. The higher the Tracing Level, the more detailed Transaction Log reports become.

    CAUTION:

Setting the Tracing Level higher than 1 may result in a longer processing time. Do not set the Tracing Level above 1 unless instructed by a technical support representative.
