When a lock is placed on an item in a database, exclusive rights are granted to that item. For example, when a document is in use, a lock is placed on that document. The user viewing or modifying that document has exclusive rights to the document until it is closed.
As of OnBase 17, the default locking method for new databases is Unique Index Locking. Using the Lock Table Locking locking method may have a negative impact on system performance. When upgrading to OnBase 18, existing databases using Lock Table Locking are automatically modified to use Unique Index Locking. For more information, contact your first line of support.
