This dialog box contains options pertaining to how user workstations are registered by OnBase. To access the dialog box:
-
In the Configuration module, select Utils | Workstation Registration. The Workstation Options dialog box is displayed.
-
Select the appropriate options. Each option is described in the table below.
Option
Description
Allow users to specify workstation description
Select this option to allow users to specify the name that will be used to identify their workstation when they log on to OnBase. This name will be displayed in the Workstation Registration dialog box in the Client module.
Note:Users will be prompted for a name only if they have not logged on to OnBase previously, or the name of their computer has changed. Users will not be prompted each time they log on.
Computer name not unique
When a user logs on to OnBase, a check is performed to see if the workstation they are using has previously logged on to OnBase. This check can involve searching by the workstation's computer name. However, on some networks, computer names may not be unique. Select this check box to force the check to ignore computer names.
If this option is selected, the Detect changes to Workstation identification option is unavailable.
Register new workstations as Workstation Client
During a normal login, OnBase attempts to assign a Concurrent Client license to a workstation. If no Concurrent Client licenses are available, OnBase attempts to assign a Workstation Client license. Select this option to force OnBase to attempt to assign a Workstation Client license first.
Register new workstations with Workflow
Select this option to automatically register a workstation for Workflow upon the first time the workstation is logged on to OnBase. This takes place without any user interaction. This option is functional when used with the following licenses:
-
Workflow Concurrent Client
-
Workflow Concurrent Client SL
-
Workflow / WorkView Concurrent Client
-
Workflow / WorkView Concurrent Client SL
For more information about Workflow licensing, consult the Workflow Enterprise Server reference guide or help files.
Workstation Clients can timeout
Select this option to close the module after a configured period of inactivity.
The configured timeout will only affect workstations that are registered with a Workstation Client license. It will not affect workstations that are registered with a Named User or Concurrent Client license.
Note:For more information about configuring the timeout period, see User Group Configuration for Timeout.
Detect changes to Workstation identification
Select this option to allow OnBase to detect if a workstation's identification has changed upon login. This prevents the creation of a duplicate registration by updating the workstation's registration with the new information. This option is selected by default, unless the Computer name not unique option is selected.
If this option is disabled and a significant change to the workstation's identification is detected, a new registration will be created upon login. If this occurs, users may be unable to access functionality that is based on workstation licenses, as well as being unable to use existing scan formats. Because of this, you should always enable the Detect changes to Workstation identification option if your workstations use unique computer names.
Note:This option will not detect existing duplicate registrations. Please contact your solution provider for more information regarding duplicate workstation registrations.
