The File Formats page allows you to add formats for files to be imported into OnBase.

To create a file format in the OnBase Administration Portal:

  1. From the sidebar, under Documents & Metadata, click File Formats.

The File Formats page is displayed.

  2. Click Create File Format.

The first page of the Create File Format wizard, the General page, is displayed.

  3. In the Name field, enter the name of the file format.
  4. In the MIME field, enter the two-part identifier for the file format being created. For example, if the file format is a PNG image file, enter "image/png".
  5. In the Default Extension field, enter the file extension used for the file format. For example, if the file format is a PNG image file, enter "png".
    Note:

Do not enter a period (".") before the file extension in the Default Extension field.

  6. Click Next Step.

    The Viewer page is displayed.

  7. Under Viewer Type, select the appropriate type of viewer for your file format. OnBase provides several types of standard viewers that you can associate with your file format. For example, if your file format is a text file, select Text.

For more information on file types and viewer compatibility, see Supported File Formats.

    Note:

The Internal Viewer is used with certain default file formats. You cannot select Internal Viewer as the Viewer Type when creating a file format.

  8. Click Create File Format.

A message is displayed stating that the file format is created.

  9. Click View File Format to navigate to the newly created file format's page and configure settings for the file format. For more information, see Editing File Format Settings.

Click Create Another File Format to begin creating an additional file format.

Click Done to return to the File Formats page.
