When dealing with the physical files, you may need to know what documents in the system are stored in a particular file in a Disk Group. To find this out, you must use the Retrieve Documents by File dialog box.

  1. From the Client module, select File | Open | Retrieve by Filename. The Retrieve Documents by File dialog box displays.
  2. Type the name of the file in the Retrieve Documents in File field to retrieve all the documents contained in a file. Click Browse to open the Explorer window in order to navigate to the file.
  3. Select the Disk Group from the Disk Group Name drop-down list.
  4. You may change the volume number if the desired file is on a different volume. If the entire path to the file has been entered, select the Match Exact Path check box. Otherwise, it will search the path for the Disk Group for the file.
  5. Once the information has been entered, click Find. A list of the documents contained in the file will be displayed.
    Note:

Documents are retrieved regardless of status. For example, deleted documents that are in the trash can are also retrieved when using Retrieve by Filename.
