The settings available under Alphanumeric Settings are available if you select an alphanumeric data type while Configuring a Keyword Type. The settings include Maximum Length, Storage Options, and Character Case Options.

Specify the maximum length of an alphanumeric Keyword Type in the Maximum Length field. When changing the value of this field, note the following:

  • The maximum length of an alphanumeric Keyword Type must be 250 characters or less.

  • This value can be increased after the Keyword Type has been created, but the value cannot be decreased.

  • If you increase this value and attempt to save the change, a warning dialog box is displayed, informing you that this potentially lengthy update process should not be interrupted.

CAUTION:

Interrupting the process of updating the maximum length of an alphanumeric Keyword Type can result in performance issues when that Keyword Type is used for retrieval. If the update process is interrupted for any reason, contact your first line of support.
