OnBase Clients running as Windows Services can be stopped remotely using the Thick Client Service Manager functionality in the Diagnostics Console, if the Diagnostics Service is running on the same machine as the Client Windows Service.

In order to enable remote stop requests, the Client Windows Service must be started with the -MAILSLOT="{{ServiceName}}" command line switch applied and entered exactly as shown (e.g., do not replace ServiceName with the service name; it is automatically detected). The MAILSLOT argument can be applied to the service by adding it to the Additional Arguments field in the Service Configuration dialog box (see Service Configuration).

There are three ways to stop a remote service remotely:

  • Send a stop request;

  • send a log off time request;

  • force quit the service.

Note:

A stop request may take up to two minutes to be completed.
