The Document Type privileges for the User Group are determined in the User Groups & Rights | Privileges settings. Those privileges pertain to all Document Types available to the User Group. You can also override certain Document Type privileges.

  1. Select a User Group and click Document Types to open the Assigning Document Types for [user group] dialog box.
  2. Select Override Privileges. The Override Privileges dialog box displays:
  3. In the Available section of the Override Privileges dialog box, select the Document Type(s) with the privileges that are to be overridden and click Add.
    Note:

Use the Shift or Ctrl key to select multiple Document Types.

  4. Select the Document Type(s) in the Selected section of the dialog box and select Settings. The User Rights for Doc Types dialog box displays:
    Note:

The settings configured in the User Rights for Doc Types dialog box will apply across all documents in the selected Document Types.

  5. The Group Default column displays the settings that are configured in the User Groups & Rights | Privileges settings.
  6. The default User Settings display all privileges for a Document Type. By default, all privileges are selected. By deselecting an item, the associated functionality is selectively removed from the Document Type.

For more information on each individual privilege, see Configuring User Group Privileges.

    Note:

If a user has Create privileges for one Document Type, the user can access the Send To | Create New Document right-click option from documents in any Document Type. When the user creates a new document using this option, only Document Types for which the user has Create privileges are available to assign to the new document.

  7. Click Set All if you want to enable all privileges.
  8. When all privileges have been enabled/disabled, select Save. Select Close at the Override Privileges dialog box.
  9. When the assignment of Document Types is satisfactory, click Close.

A user may be a member of two or more User Groups that have conflicting Document Type overrides. When this occurs, you can specify whether to use the least or most restrictive effect over privileges. For more information, see Global Client Settings.
