A Timeout Configuration determines the time allotment for a user working within OnBase modules. If there has been no activity in the program within the allotted timeout length, the program is closed.

In order for the timeout to take effect on workstations that are registered with a Workstation Client license, the Workstation Clients can timeout option must be selected in the Workstation Options dialog box. For more information, see Workstation Options Dialog Box.

If you are using the Unity Client, you can configure a Timeout Configuration to detect activity from either the Application Server or the current Windows session. To configure Timeout Configuration for Unity, complete the steps below for the appropriate User Group, then modify the UserGroupTimeoutMode setting in the Unity Client configuration file appropriately. For more information on modifying the UserGroupTimeoutMode setting, see the Unity Client documentation.

Note:

Timeouts are not respected for users accessing modules with Named User licenses.

To apply a Timeout Configuration to a User Group:

  1. In the Configuration module, select Users | User Groups/Rights.
  2. Select the User Group that will be assigned a timeout allotment.
  3. Click Timeout Configuration to open the Timeout Configuration dialog box.
  4. The Enable Timeout check box allows the system to have a timed limit of inactivity within OnBase.
    Note:

This setting does not apply to the following modules: OnBase Configuration, Application Enabler Configuration, Office Business Application for 2019, and Integration for Microsoft Outlook 2019.

  5. To set the time limit for inactivity, type the number of minutes into the Timeout Length field. When this time passes with no user activity, the system will log the user out of the system.

The Timeout Length minimum is 5 minutes. If you disconnect from OnBase before 5 minutes into the connection, your workstation will continue to hold on to a Client license until the minimum connection time of 5 minutes has occurred.

    Note:

All open modal dialog boxes must be closed and any processes must be completed before the Timeout can close OnBase.

  6. Select Save to retain the new settings.
    Note:

When users belong to more than one User Group, and the User Groups have different timeout configurations, you can apply either the least restrictive or most restrictive Timeout Length to these users by selecting one of the Client Timeout options under Users | Global Client Settings | Security.
