The following rules apply when creating cross-references for a document type:
-
Multiple destination document types can be retrieved for a single source document.
-
If multiple destination documents are specified for a single source document, different linking mechanisms can be configured for each.
-
Only one type of linking mechanism can be configured for a specific cross-referenced value between the same source-destination documents. For example: a source document cannot be configured to retrieve a destination document using both a Keyword Type cross-reference and a Text cross-reference based on the same Keyword Type.
-
Multiple linking mechanism can be configured between the same source-destination documents if the cross-referenced value is different. For example, a Keyword Type link can be specified in conjunction with a Text or Template linking mechanism to further restrict the documents retrieved to only those that satisfy both the common keyword, as well as a new subset of Text or Template parameters for the cross-reference.
