In the Data Files section of the Import window, select where to place the files that are being imported:
-
Copy Data Files to New Location This option copies the data files into an existing Disk Group, selected from the Disk Group drop-down list. This process involves copying the actual data files to the location specified by the selected Disk Group, as well as updating the database with related index information for the data files (such as Keyword Values, Document Type, and file format). The data files will now reside at the location specified by the selected Disk Group.
-
Use Data Files in Current Location This option allows the data files to reside in their original (exported) location, but be referenced through the use of an Import Disk Group. Select Create New Disk Group to create a new Import Disk Group when the files are imported, or select Use Existing Disk Group to use an existing Disk Group to reference the files.
Encrypted Disk Groups are marked with an asterisk (*).
If the data is being imported from a CD/DVD created in a system that is different from the destination system, the Copy Data Files to New Location option is selected automatically and the Use Data Files in Current Location options are no longer available.
If the data being imported has been fully encrypted using an external driver, the Copy Data Files to New Location option is selected automatically and the Use Data Files in Current Location options are no longer available. If only the Disk Group files of the data being imported have been encrypted using an external driver, the Use Data Files in Current Location options are initially available because this information is not in the .CD control file. However, if you attempt to import under these conditions using the Use Data Files in Current Location options, the import will fail, and you will be returned to the Import window. At this point, the Copy Data Files to New Location option will be selected automatically and the Use Data Files in Current Location options will no longer be available. If the data being imported has been encrypted without using an external driver, the Use Data Files in Current Location options are available and functional. However, data that has been encrypted without using an external driver cannot be imported into an existing unencrypted Disk Group.
