When configuring a Document Type, it is considered a best practice to configure at least one Keyword Type as REQR - Keyword field is required for Retrieve Dialog Queries. Enabling this setting prevents users from retrieving documents without entering a value for the required Keyword Type.

Additionally, Keyword Types can be configured to appear as read-only or hidden at the Document Type level. Although these Keyword Types may not be visible or editable to certain users, OnBase still loads these Keyword Types. It is considered a best practice to only configure Keyword Types to appear as read-only or hidden at the Document Type level when necessary. Avoid configuring a Keyword Type as hidden or read-only when it belongs to a Multi-Instance Keyword Type Group. When a keyword type is hidden or read-only and is part of a Multi-Instance Keyword Type Group, users cannot use the Ctrl+Del function to delete an entire instance of a Multi-Instance Keyword Type Group from an Indexing panel in the OnBase Client.
