The Document Type revision feature allows a new overlay to be used with the Document Type, from a day-forward point in time. The new overlay will be used to bring new documents into the Document Type, while allowing previously-assigned overlays to remain applied to the existing documents.

  1. Click Add Revision.
  2. To confirm the creation of a Document Type revision, click OK. (Click Cancel to exit the revision feature without effecting the Document Type.)
  3. Click Overlay on the Document Types dialog box. The Overlay Options dialog box gives the settings for the currently assigned overlays.

A numeric indicator appears in the Revisions field, to indicate the new revision for use with the new overlay selection. Ensure that the new Revision is highlighted.

  4. Select the appropriate overlay on the Overlay image drop-down list. Do this for any View, Print, or Fax overlay that will be used with the new revision.
  5. Click Apply to store the changes for the revision.

From this point forward, all new documents will use this new overlay, while older documents will use the same overlay they were previously assigned. If the new overlay was assigned without creating a Document Type revision, all documents would use that new overlay.
