A User Group's default Document Type Privileges are determined by the settings under User Groups & Rights | Privileges. You can override these default privileges for any of the User Groups you added in the User Group Assignment dialog box.

A user may be a member of two or more User Groups that have conflicting override privileges. When this occurs, you can specify whether to use the least or most restrictive effect over privileges. For more information on least restrictive and most restrictive override options, see lwq1646252512978.html#lwq1646252512978__table_1286386.

When a user is a member of two or more User Groups, but override privileges are only configured for one of the User Groups, the most restrictive override privileges are used. For example, if a user is a member of a User Group named MANAGER that is not configured for any override privileges and a User Group named USERS that is configured for override privileges, any conflicting privileges between the MANAGER User Group and the USERS User Group will be given to the user based on what is configured for the USERS User Group. If the MANAGER User Group is configured to allow document deletion, but the USERS User Group is not configured to allow document deletion, the user will not be allowed to delete documents.

To set override privileges during Document Type configuration:

  1. From the User Group Assignment dialog box, click Override Privileges.
The Override Privileges dialog box displays.
  2. In the Available list, select the User Group(s) that will have override privileges for the Document Type and click Add. The selected User Group(s) display in the Selected list.

To remove a User Group's override privileges, select the User Group in the Selected list and click Remove.

  3. Select the User Group(s) from the Selected list and click Settings.

The User Rights for Doc Types dialog box displays. The Group Default column displays the privileges that are configured in the User Groups & Rights | Privileges settings. The User Settings column displays User Group privileges for the Document Type. By default, all Group Default privileges are selected.

    Note:

When multiple User Groups are selected from the Selected list, the settings configured in the User Rights for Doc Types dialog box will apply across all selected User Groups.

  4. Select a check box to grant a privilege to the User Group(s). Deselect a check box to remove a privilege for the selected User Group(s). To select all privileges, click Set All. To deselect all privileges, click Clear All.

If you clear all privileges and click Save, no override privileges are configured for the selected User Group(s). In the Override Privileges dialog box, the selected User Group(s) move from the Selected list to the Available list.

    Note:

If a user has both Create and Copy To Clipboard / Save As privileges for one Document Type, the user can access the Send To | Create New Document right-click option from documents in any Document Type. When the user creates a new document using this option, only Document Types for which the user has Create privileges are available to assign to the new document.

  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Close from the Override Privileges dialog box.
