After you have created and configured all of the password policies that will be used in your OnBase solution, you must define the default password policy for your OnBase solution. This default password policy applies to all User Groups in your OnBase solution. If no default password policy is assigned, the Medium Security password policy is set as the default.

After defining the default password policy, you must also define the order of precedence that password policies are applied to users. The order precedence is used when determining which password policy to use when a user is associated with multiple password policies. A user can be associated with more than one password policy because they belong to more than one User Group.

To define the default password policy and order of precedence in the Password Policies dialog box:

  1. Select the password policy that you want to be the default password policy for your OnBase solution.
  2. Click the Set System Default Password Policy button:
  3. The selected password becomes the default password policy for your OnBase solution:
  4. Verify that the password policies for your OnBase solution appear in the proper order of precedence in the Precedence column:

    Precedence

    Description

    Highest

    The password policy is the highest precedence in your OnBase solution.

     

    The password policy is between the highest and lowest precedence in your OnBase solution.

    Lowest

    The password policy is the lowest precedence in your OnBase solution.

  5. To change the precedence of a password policy, select the policy and use one of the following buttons:

    Precedence

    Description

    Click to increase the precedence of a password policy.

    Click to decrease the precedence of a password policy.

  6. After you have finished configuring the order of password policy precedence, click Close to save the order and close the Password Policies dialog box.
