The Assigning File Formats dialog box allows you to specify which file types appear in the File Type drop-down list when importing a document in the OnBase Client. This allows you to create a list of available file types for members of the selected User Group. Any file types not in the list are made unavailable in the File Type drop-down list when importing a document.

Note the following limitations when configuring available file types in the File Type list:

  • Leaving a file type off of the File Type list does not prevent a user from selecting a file with an incompatible type when manually browsing files.

  • Importing a file with a file type that is not compatible with the type selected from the File Type menu may cause errors, such as the file not being viewable within the OnBase Client.

  • If file types are assigned at both the Document Type and User Group levels, only file types included in both lists are available during import.

  • The File Type lists configured at the User Group level are not respected by Unity Briefcase.

To configure the list of available file types for a User Group:

  1. In the Configuration module, select User | User Groups / Rights. The User Groups & Rights dialog box is displayed.
  2. Select a User Group and click File Formats. The Assigning File Formats dialog box is displayed:
  3. In the Available list, select the file type(s) that are appropriate for the Document Type and click Add. The selected file type(s) display in the Selected list.
To remove selected file types, select the file types in the Selected list and click Remove.
  4. Click Close.
