Note:

Before you can assign password policies to User Groups, you must create and configure password policies. You must also designate a default password policy for your OnBase solution and organize existing password policies by precedence. See Enforcing User Password Security for more information.

When you select your OnBase solution's default password policy, this password policy is applied to all OnBase User Groups. For User Groups that require a lower level of password restriction, the default password policy is sufficient. For User Groups that require a higher level of password restriction, the default password policy is insufficient. For this reason, password policies can be assigned at the User Group level. Assigning a password policy at the User Group level overrides your OnBase solution's default password policy.

To assign a password policy at the User Group level:

  1. Select Users | User Groups & Rights.
  2. Select the User Group that requires a higher level of password restriction.
  3. Click Password Options.
  4. The Assign User Group Password Policy dialog box is displayed:
  5. Your OnBase solution's default password policy is displayed in the drop-down list.
  6. To assign the selected User Group a password policy that is different than your OnBase solution's default password policy, select the Override Default Password Policy check box.
  7. Select the password policy that should be assigned to the selected User Group from the drop-down list:
    Note:

The Override Default PIN Policy setting applies to user PINs, which are used only with deficiency completion in the Medical Records Unity Client and DeficiencyPop. For more information, see the Medical Records Unity Client or DeficiencyPop documentation.

  8. Click Save.
  9. Repeat this process for each User Group in your OnBase solution that requires a higher level of password restriction than the default password policy.
