The Copy Configuration dialog box allows you to make a duplicate copy of an existing Document Type. The resulting copy maintains all associated settings, with the following exceptions: cross-reference configurations, life cycle assignments, folder types assigned, system tasks assigned.

To copy a Document Type:

  1. In the Configuration module, select Document | Document Types.
  2. Click Copy on the Document Types dialog box to open the Copy Configuration dialog box.
  3. Type the name for the copy in the New Document Type field:
    • the Document Type name must be unique (it cannot be the same as any other Document Type name in the list)

    • the Document Type name cannot exceed 66 characters

  4. To copy all User Group security settings from the Document Type, select User Group Security.
Upon selecting the User Group Security option, the Overrides option becomes available. Select Overrides if you would like to copy all User Group override privileges from the Document Type's User Groups.
  5. Click Save.
    Note:

Any setting of the copied Document Type can be changed independent of the original Document Type.
