When opening a Microsoft Office document (such as an Excel spreadsheet) in the Unity Client on a workstation using multiple monitors, the Document Viewer does not display the file correctly. An Exception error may display with the following message: No document is open to perform the operation requested.


This issue occurs when a workstation is using multiple monitors with different display scaling settings. For example, a workstation laptop may have the laptop screen set at 125% scaling and the external monitor set at 100% scaling.

To correct this issue, do one of the following:

  • Modify the display settings so each monitor has the same display scaling.

  • Set the corresponding Microsoft Office application to optimize for compatibility.

To set a Microsoft Office application to optimize for compatibility:

  1. Open the Microsoft Office application related to the incorrectly displaying document (such as Excel).
  2. From the File menu, select Options.
  3. On the General tab, under When using multiple displays, select Optimize for compatibility.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Restart the application.
