A Foreign Disk Group must be configured to support this process so that video files being imported can be archived from an in-place location and not be copied to regular disk groups in the OnBase system.

To create a foreign disk group:

  1. Open the OnBase Configuration tool.
  2. From the Disk Mgmt menu, select Disk Groups. The Disk Group Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  3. In the Disk Group Name field, create a disk group named Media DIP Files.
  4. Click Create. The Disk Group Type dialog box is displayed.
  5. Select Foreign Disk Group.
  6. Click Next. The Disk Group Settings dialog box is displayed.
  7. Select the following options:
    • From the Volume Size section, select BD Large File (100+ K Avg)

    • In the Number of Copies field, enter 1

    • In the Options section, ensure that Foreign Disk Group is selected

  8. Click Save.
  9. In the Disk Group Configuration dialog box, select the disk group you want to configure, and select the Volume Configuration option.

The Volume Configuration dialog box is displayed.

  10. Select the copy you want to configure from the Platter Name section.
  11. Ensure that the Foreign option is selected.
  12. Click Close. Disk Group configuration is complete.
    Note:

Configuration of Volume Information is not required. The Foreign Disk Group will not point to a file system share location.
