Q: How can I improve the quality of images produced by the Virtual Print Driver?

A: To improve image quality, increase the resolution and/or paper size of the image.

Generally, the highest DPI will produce the highest quality image. You can select up to 600 DPI, although 200 DPI is standard for most documents and 150 DPI is usually acceptable for readable draft pages.

You can also increase the size of the page size on which you're printing. While letter size (8.5 x 11 inches) is standard, options such as legal (8.5 x 14 inches) and tabloid (11 x 17 inches) sizes are available.

To change the default resolution and page size options:

  1. Select Devices and Printers from the Start menu.
  2. Right-click on the Virtual Printer.
  3. Click Printing preferences.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. Adjust the Paper Size and Print Quality as necessary.

Take into consideration that by increasing the resolution and/or paper size of the document, you are increasing the size of the file produced by the printer.
