Starting from March 1 2026, Microsoft Exchange Online does not support Basic Authentication with SMTP anymore. Due to this reason, the authentication set for Microsoft accounts has to be changed.

Note: This feature is available in version 24.1.24.1000 and later.

In order to use an Azure account and Microsoft Graph API with WorkView, the Azure account must be configured and registered in Microsoft Entra ID. For detailed information on configuring Azure, see its Microsoft documentation.

When configuring and registering your Azure solution, keep the following considerations in mind:

  • The Mail.Send API permission set to Send mail as any user is required to send mails.

  • The Mail.ReadWrite API permission is required in order to send attachments over 4 MB.

  • It is considered a best practice to limit mailbox access for the App Registration being used.

To configure a Microsoft mailbox with WorkView

  1. In the Configuration module, navigate to Utils | Distribution Service Settings. The Distribution Service Settings dialog box is displayed.
Distribution Server Settings with empty data.
  2. Click Email Server Settings. The Mail Server Settings dialog box is displayed.

  7. Select Distribution Service from the Integration Type drop-down list.
  8. Select Office 365 from the Service Type options. The Client ID and Client Secret fields become available, and the Authentication Type is automatically set to OAuth.
