If you want to allow direct creation of objects from open documents in the OnBase client via a right-click menu option, you must associate a Document Type with the appropriate class. Document Type Associations created at the class level are also used to configure the Create WorkView Object From This Document and the Update WorkView Object From This Document actions in the Workflow module. Document Type Associations are also used in the WorkView Integration for Microsoft Outlook module. To associate a Document Type with a class:

  1. In the Repositories pane, expand the class for which you would like to configure a Document Type Association.
  2. Select the Mappings node.
  3. In the Properties pane, in the Document Types tab, click Add. The Document Type Association Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  4. Enter a Name for the Document Type Association.
    Note:

The name must unique for the class in which it resides.

  5. Select a Document Type from the drop-down list.
  6. Select a Keyword Type Map from the drop-down list that you want to use to map values from attributes or Keyword Types. You can create a new map or modify the select map from the editing menu to the right of the drop-down. For more information see Creating Keyword Type Maps.
    Note:

A name, Document Type, and keytype map are required to associate a Document Type with a class.

  7. Select the appropriate keyword mapping option:

Map multiple keyword instances into the defined single attribute: When this is selected, if there are multiple instances of a Keyword Type on a document and an object is created for a document, each instance will be placed in the same attribute field, separated by a tab. This only applies to attributes that can contain a space, such as alphanumeric and text attributes.

Map multiple keywords into separate attributes in the order mapped: When this option is selected, you can map multiple attributes to a Keyword Type to address multiple instances of the Keyword Type on a document. If a document has more instances of a Keyword Type than what was mapped, all values will not be mapped to the object. The instances are added to the object in the order they are found on the document.

Create a new object for each keyword instance of type: When this option is selected, a new object is created for each instance of the selected Keyword Type that is on the document.

    Note:

When Create a new object for each keyword instance of type is used with the Create WorkView Object from this Document Workflow action, you can relate new objects to the parent object that was created in a previous action within the task list if a relationship exists between the parent object and the newly created child objects. The Save Object ID to Property option must be used. In this field, you must store the parent object ID and when configuring the Keyword Type to attribute mapping, the relationship attribute's value must be set to the value of this property.

Create a new object for each keyword group instance: When this option is selected, a new object is created for each instance of the selected Multi Instance Keyword Type Group that is on the document.

    Note:

When Create a new object for each keyword group instance is used with the Create WorkView Object from this Document Workflow action, you can relate new objects to the parent object that was created in a previous action within the task list if a relationship exists between the parent object and the newly created child objects. The Save Object ID to Property option must be used. In this field, you must store the parent object ID and when configuring the Keyword Type to attribute mapping, the relationship attribute's value must be set to the value of this property.

  8. Select the Include Document check box if you want the originating document to automatically be attached to the newly created object.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Repeat these steps for each Document Type you want to associate with the selected class.
