To create a filter bar item from a filter:

  1. In the Repositories pane, select the filter you want to add to a filter bar, select the Filter Bar Item tab in the Properties pane and click Add.
  2. If you want to added the filter to one or more existing filter bars, select Add to existing filter bar(s). Select the check box(es) next the filter bar(s) to which you want to add the filter. You can select the Show only included items to only display the filter bars you have selected.Click Next. Skip to step 7.
    If you want to add the filter to a new filter bar, select Add to a new filter bar. Click Next.
  3. If you selected Add to a new filter bar, the following screen displays:
  4. Enter a Name for the new filter bar.
  5. Enter a Description for the new filter bar.
    Note:

    The Create as a User-defined Filter Bar check box is disabled because an filter bar item cannot be added to a user-defined filter bar in Studio.

  6. Click Next.
  7. The following screen displays:
  8. Enter the Name for the filter bar item. The name is limited to 100 characters.
    Note:

    No two filter bar items within the same filter bar can have the same name.

  9. Enter a Description.
    Note:

    The text added to the Description field will be displayed as a tooltip when the user hovers over the filter name in the Unity Client.

  10. Click Next.
  11. Select the Application that contains the filter you wish to add to the filter bar.
  12. Select the Filter you want to associate with the filter bar item from the drop-down list.
  13. If you want to configure a sub filter related to the selected filter, select the Sub Filter check box.
  14. Click Configure. The Sub Filter Configuration: <name of filter bar item> is displayed.
  15. Select the filter you want to use as a sub filter. For more information about sub filters, see Understanding Sub Filters.
  16. Click OK.
  17. If you want to change the display name of the sub filter, enter the new name under the Name column.
  18. Click Next.
  19. If you want to assign rights for the filter bar item to all user groups assigned to the class, click Add All Assigned to Class.
  20. If you want to assign specific user groups to the filter bar item, select a user group from the User Groups drop-down list and click Add.
    CAUTION:

    If a user is assigned to more than one user group, the least restrictive privileges will be allowed.

  21. Click Next.
  22. Click Finish.
