The Display Columns tab allows you to configure how filter search results will be displayed. Only the attributes added to this tab will be displayed. If this tab is not configured, no data will be displayed. If this is the only tab configured, all objects within the associated class will display for this filter.

The Display Columns tab allows you to configure the way the filter search results will be displayed. To configure the view attributes:

  1. On the Display Columns tab, double-click on the appropriate attribute in the left pane to select it. Alternately, you can click Add to open the Display Column Configuration dialog box.
    Note:

When a Document attribute is added as a view attribute, in the Unity Client, thumbnails of documents using the image file format will appear in the filter results list. If a document is another file format, No thumbnail available is displayed in the filter search results. In the Web Client, the document handle will appear in the filter results list. In order for document thumbnails to display in filters, users must have rights to the Document Type to which the document belongs.

    Note:

If you are configuring a calculated attribute as a display column, the calculated attribute cannot be the first attribute listed unless you configure sorting in the Sorting tab.

  2. If you want to edit an attribute's heading, double-click on it within the tab or select it and click Modify. The Display Column Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  3. If an Attribute is not already populated, click the ellipsis button (...) and the select the attribute. You can also manually enter the path to the attribute if you already know the path.
  4. In the Heading field enter the text you want displayed for the column header.
    Note:

The heading for a view attribute must be unique in the filter.

  5. You can specify the Width of the column in pixels. Values between 50 and 999 can be entered.
    Note:

This setting is not respected in the Web Client filter bar filter result lists.

  6. Select the appropriate option to align the attribute displayed in the filter in the Justification settings.
  7. If you want to include summary information, select the appropriate Summary settings:
    • Average: Displays an average of values. If the value is alphanumeric, 0 will be displayed. Null values are not used in the average calculation. If you want a field that does not have a value to be included in the average as a 0 value, set 0 as a default value for the attribute.

    • Count: Displays the number of objects returned in the filter.

    • Sum: Total of values added together. If the value is alphanumeric, 0 will be displayed.

    • Max: Maximum value for the attribute returned by the filter. When you are using alphanumeric values, in a list from A to Z, Z is the maximum. When you are using a date value, the most recent date is the maximum.

    • Min: Minimum value for the attribute returned by the filter. When you are using alphanumeric values, in a list from A to Z, A is the minimum. When you are using a date value, the oldest date is the minimum.

    Note:

Summary Options only apply to the Unity Client.

You can move attributes up and down on the list using the move up and move down buttons. You can also delete attributes by selecting the appropriate attribute and clicking Delete.

Attribute names can be sorted alphabetically. To sort attribute names alphabetically, click the alphabetical sort button.
