As an administrator, you may want to maintenance the values of attributes within existing objects in the system. In order to do this, you must use the Attribute Value Maintenance feature in OnBase Studio. Attribute Value Maintenance allows you configure specific attributes in specific classes that should be updated when the objects meet configured conditions with configured values. Once you have configured a maintenance configuration item, you can execute it and the system will perform the configured attribute value changes. To configure a maintenance item:

  1. In OnBase Studio, select the WorkView ribbon.
  2. Within the Maintenance ribbon group, click Attribute Value Maintenance. The Attribute Value Maintenance dialog box is displayed.
  3. Click Add. The Attribute Value Maintenance Wizard is displayed.
  4. Enter the Name you want to associate with the configuration.
  5. Enter a Description for the configuration.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select the Application and Class that contains the objects you want to update.
  8. Click Next.
  9. You can specify either an Attribute or an Expression as the source of the value that will be used to update the existing objects.

If you select Expression, You can click Show List to display supported macros, functions, and attributes that can be used in the calculation equation.

The All tab will show all options available. The Attributes tab shows all the attributes available for the class. The Functions tab shows the available actions. The Macro tab shows the available macros. Once placed in the field, you can hover over the option to see a description and the required syntax. For more information on expression options, see Functions and Macros.

  10. Click Next.
  11. If you want to specify under what condition a value will be updated, select the Condition check box. If you do not specify a condition, all values for the attribute to be updated with be updated with the new value.
You can configure a condition to meet a Simple Attribute Match or a configured Constraint Set. If you select Simple Attribute Match, select the Attribute you want to use to identify objects that should be updated, select an Operator, and enter the Value the attribute will be compared to. For more information about Constraint Sets, see Configuring Constraint Sets.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Select the attribute that should be update in the existing objects from the drop-down list.
  14. Click Next.
  15. Click Finish.
    Note:

Executing Attribute Value Maintenance to change a value will NOT execute triggers or system events configured for the class. The value change will be recorded to the object history, though, if ‘track changes’ is enabled for the modified attribute.
