The configured class auto name will appear in the views associated with this class if the screen does not have a screen title configured. The class auto name will always be used in the calendar view to identify objects.

To configure a class auto name:

  1. From the class' Properties pane configuration screen, select the General tab.
  2. Create an auto name for your class using text and the available options. Options are available from the corresponding drop-down menu. Click on an option to add it to the auto name. If you click on the Attribute value option, a list of available attributes will display for selection. The maximum number of characters for the class Auto Name is 255. Attributes with a length greater than 255 or of the Text data type are not available for selection. See Auto Name and Screen Title Items for more information about the options.
    Note:

Auto names are displayed in calendar views to identify objects.

    Note:

Calculated attributes are not available for selection.

    Note:

If Full Text Indexing is being used for a class, if the auto name is changed, the class needs re-indexed to ensure the object names are correct when using full text searching. See Re-indexing Catalogs for more information about re-indexing a catalog.

    Note:

The ~ and % characters are reserved for use with macros. Using them in a string that does not include a macro may produce unexpected results.
