If you want to configure your solution to be able to update the data an external data source that is connected to an external class or to view the history of the class, you must configure the user groups in a specific way. To configure an external class to modify data in the external data source:

  1. Select the external class you want to configure to update the data in the external data source in the WorkView tab within the Repositories pane.
  2. Select the User Groups tab.
  3. Select the Allow Update option.
  4. For each user group you want to grant rights to update the data in the external data source, select the Modify option next to the user group.
  5. For each user group you want to grant right to view the history of the class data, select the View History option next to the user group.
  6. Save the repository.
    Note:

    If an external class is connected to OnBase database tables, the OnBase tables cannot be modified, even with this configuration.

    Note:

    Alphanumeric attributes longer than 256 characters belonging to an external ODBC class cannot be edited.
