If you want to populate a data set with values returned from a filter, you can create a filter data set.

  1. In the WorkView ribbon, in the General ribbon group, click Data Sets. The Data Sets dialog box is displayed.
  2. Select Add | Filter Data Set.
  3. Enter the Name you want for the filter data set.
  4. Select the Class that will be associated with filter data set.
  5. Select the Filter that you want to use to populate the data set. The attribute configured as the first display column in the filter's configuration will be used to populate the data set.
  6. When the Use distinct box is selected, any sort configured for the filter selected will not be applied unless all attributes configured for sorting are also configured as display columns. If the Use distinct box is not selected, any sort configured for the filter will be used when displaying the data in the data set.
  7. Click OK.
    Note:

There is 50 value display limit. If the user tries to access a data set that has more than 50 values without limiting the values returned using the available type ahead feature, a message alerting them that the data set has too many results will be displayed.

If you would like to use filter data set to create cascading data sets, see the ~[<attributename>] macro documentation in Using Macros.
