There are multiple ways to enter Data Set information into WorkView for an attribute:

  • Manually adding each value one at a time.

  • Manually add a list of values.

  • Importing values from a .txt file.

To manually add each value one at a time:

  1. In the Data Set Configuration dialog box, if appropriate, select a Parent Data Set. For more information on parent data sets, see Parent Data Sets.
  2. Click in the field under the Set Value column.
  3. Enter the value you want to include as part of the data set.
  4. If the value is associated with a value from a parent data set, select the value from the Parent Data drop-down list that is associated with the entered value. Parent Data specifies what values are available when a specific parent data set value is selected.
  5. To enter another value, repeat these steps on the next row down.
  6. When finished, click OK.

To add a list of values:

  7. In the Data Set Configuration dialog box, if appropriate, select a Parent Data Set. For more information on parent data sets, see Parent Data Sets.
  8. Click the import button and select Add List.

The Add List dialog box is displayed.

  9. If appropriate, select a Parent Data value. This value is the value that will be associated with the list.
  10. In the Enter Data Set values, one value per line: field, enter the values that you want to add. After each value, press Enter on your keyboard.
  11. Click OK.
  12. If you have multiple parent data values that you need to enter a list for, you must repeat this process for every parent data value.

To import Data Set values from a .txt file:

  13. In the Data Set Configuration dialog box, click the import button and select Import From File.

The Import Data Set Values From File dialog box is displayed.

  14. In the File Name field, enter the path to the .txt import file, including the file name, or click the ellipsis button to browse to the file.
  15. Enter the Delimiter character used to signify the beginning and end of a value in the .txt file.
  16. Enter the Separator character used to separate the values in the .txt. If this field is left blank, each value has to be separated by a new line.
  17. Select the appropriate parent data set from the Parent Data drop-down list that applies to the values included in the import file. For more information on parent data sets, see Parent Data Sets.
  18. Click OK. The values from the import .txt file will populate in the Data Set Configuration dialog box.
  19. When you are finished configuring the data set, click OK.
