In addition to the stock characters described above, you may want to create very specific masking pattern characters to further limit the characters entered into the masked value. To create a custom character, you can use Regular Expressions to define the mask pattern character. Consult a Regular Expressions reference for further information about this topic. To create a placeholder:

  1. In the Mask Configuration dialog box, click Add. The Attribute Mask Definition Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  2. Enter the Name you want to use for the placeholder.
  3. Enter the Description of the placeholder.
  4. Enter the character you will use for the placeholder in the Character field. Characters are case sensitive and you cannot use a character that is already used as a placeholder.
  5. Enter the Regular Expression in the Match Expression field that defines what characters are allowed for use when the specified Character is used to define a mask.
    Note:

The same expression cannot be used more than once when defining characters.

  6. Click OK.

You can delete a custom mask by selecting it and clicking Delete.
