To create a calculated attribute:

  1. Select the class you want to add attributes to in the Repositories pane.
  2. In the Properties pane, select the Attributes tab.
  3. Click Add Calculated. The Calculated Attribute Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  4. Enter the name you would like displayed for the attribute's name in the Display Name field. The Name field is automatically populated with the same value that was entered in the Display Name field without the spaces.
  5. Select the Data Type from the drop-down list that you want to associate with the attribute. See Creating Attributes for more information on data types.
    Note:

For alphanumeric calculated fields, if the source value is greater that 255 characters, Live Update is disabled. When this is the case, the calculation is executed on save.

  6. If you want the calculated attribute to be updated when Live Updates are configured for a trigger that impacts this attribute, select Enable Live Updates. For more information about triggers, see Configuring Triggers for more information.
  7. Select the Calculation tab.
  8. In the field, enter the calculation you would like to use to define the value of the attribute. You can click Show List to display supported macros, functions, and attributes that can be used in the calculation equation.
    1. The All tab will show all options available. The Attributes tab shows all the attributes available for the class. The Functions tab shows the available actions. The Macro tab shows the available macros. Once placed in the field, you can hover over the option to see a description and the required syntax.
      Note:

Calculated attribute configurations cannot be saved if a Calculation is not specified.

  9. Select the Description tab and enter a description of what this attribute calculates and any other important information.
  10. Click OK.
    Note:

The API cannot be used to set values for calculated attributes.

    Note:

Calculated attributes are not available for configuration in Workflow.
