To export data from one or more WorkView classes:

  1. In the WorkView ribbon, click Export. The Export screen is displayed.
  2. Click Classes.
  3. Select the Application from the drop-down select that contains the class from which you want to export data.
  4. Select a class from which you want to export data.
    Note:

    Extended classes extended from external classes will not be available for data export.

  5. If you want to export only the data that is returned from the results of a specific filter, select Use filter to obtain data for export and select the appropriate filter from the drop-down list.
    Note:

    You must configure a filter before clicking Add>> or you will have to remove the attribute and reconfigure it.

  6. Click Add>>.
  7. Add as many classes as appropriate.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Double-click on the attribute(s) from which you want to export data. You can also select the attribute and click Add>>. The Name field is populated for the attribute. Repeat this step for each attribute you want to add.
    Note:

    Calculated attributes are not available for selection in this screen.

    Note:

    If a selected attribute contains no data in the exported objects, the attribute will not be exported.

  10. Click Next when all applicable attributes are selected.
  11. Browse to the location in which you want to save the export file.
  12. Specify a File Name. The file name should have an .xml extension.
  13. Click Next.
  14. If you would like save the mappings defined in the export wizard and use the saved mappings when you import the exported data, select Save Mappings.
  15. Specify the directory where you want to save the mapping file in the Folder field
  16. Specify a File Name.
  17. Click Next.
  18. Click Finish. The exported information will be save to an XML formatted file.
  19. If there is no data to export, a message stating No objects to export. Would you like to create an XML export file template using the attributes you selected? is displayed. Click Yes to create the XML template file of the exported class/application. Click No if you do not want to create the XML template.
    CAUTION:

    If you have exported Document attributes, confirm that the Document IDs are correct and will not conflict with the destination database. The documents themselves are not exported. The Document IDs specified will be used to identify documents in the destination database.
