Excel files containing data can be imported into WorkView using the OnBase Studio. Importing data will create new objects and update existing objects. To import data into an application using an Excel file:
- In the WorkView ribbon, within the Data Import/Export group, click Import.

If you have made changes to the repository and do not save before importing, you will receive a message stating The repository must be saved before importing. Do you want to save the repository? Click Yes.
CAUTION:
Leading spaces will be stripped from imported values.

Select Excel File.

Browse to the file you want to import in the File Path field.
Note:
If the file is not a valid import file, you will not be able to progress any further in the import process. See Microsoft Excel Import File Structure for more information about formatting data.

Click Next.
- Select the Application from the drop-down list that contains the class in which you want to import data.
- Select the Class from the drop-down list in which you want to import data.

Click Next.
Note:
Calculated attributes are not imported.

Map attributes in the import file to the destination class' attributes by selecting an attribute from the import file that you want to map from the Data Columns box and then selecting an attribute from the destination class in the Import Attributes box.
Note:
Calculated attributes are not available for selection in this screen.

Click Add.
Note:
You can You can click Auto-Map to automatically map the attributes to attributes of the same name. When this is used, the unique attribute will automatically be set as the Key Value.
- Map all of the appropriate attributes.

If you want to update existing objects, you must select the Key Value check box next to the attribute(s) that determines the unique id for an object. The value of the attribute that is specified as the Key Value will determine which existing objects will be updated with the information from the import file. If an attribute is marked as a Key Value, every object must have a value for this attribute to complete the import successfully.
Note:
Each attribute in the Import Attributes box can only be mapped once.
Note:Mapped relationship attributes cannot be use as the Key Value.
Note:If an attribute that utilizes a sequence is not mapped to data in the export file, the attribute will be filled automatically upon import to accommodate the configured sequencing.
- Click Next.
- If you want to test the import, click Test import. A Test Import Results dialog box with information about the objects that will be created and/or updated in the system once you click Finish.
- Click Finish to complete the import.
