An Excel file must follow a specific format in order for it to be successfully imported as class data. The first line of the file must contain the names of the attributes you want to import data into. The value or values that are used to identify existing objects that need to be updated should have an asterisk (*) directly behind the attribute name. If an existing object does not exist with the value of the attribute denoted with an asterisk, a new object will be created. If the data to be imported contains relationship attributes, each relationship should have at least one attribute denoted with an asterisk in order to properly identify the related object that needs to be updated or to create a new related object.

Each object that you want to import should have its own line and the values should align with the columns defined in the first line of the file. Only one class can be stored in a single Excel file used for importing. File extensions must be either .xlsx or .xls. The following is an example of data in an Excel file:

Note:

If an attribute that utilizes a sequence is not mapped to data in the export file, the attribute will be filled automatically upon import to accommodate the configured sequencing.

All column names in your file should match to an attribute in the class you are importing into. Each row within a key value column must have data in it. If the columns names do not match the attribute names, you can resolve this during the mapping process during import.
