XML formatted data can be imported into WorkView using the OnBase Studio. Importing data will create new objects and update existing objects. To import data into an application using an XML file:

  1. In the WorkView ribbon, within the Data Import/Export group, click Import.
  2. If you have made changes to the repository and do not save before importing, you will receive a message stating The repository must be saved before importing. Do you want to save the repository? Click Yes.
    CAUTION:

Leading spaces will be stripped from imported values.

  3. Select XML File for a file with an .xml extension.
  4. Click Next.

  6. If you have a mapping file that maps the import file to the application's structure, you can select Use Existing Mappings from File and Browse to the mapping file. If you select a mapping file that contains information related to the file you want to import, information about attribute mappings will be populated automatically.
  7. Click Next.
  8. The Import Class Node box displays the class that was exported. If the XML file contains data from multiple classes, you can select the appropriate class data to import.
  9. Select the Application from the drop-down list that contains the class in which you want to import data.
  10. Select the Class from the box in which you want to import data.
  11. You can click Auto-Map to automatically map the class to a class of the same name in the selected Application.

You can also manually map the classes by selecting the class in the Import Class Nodes box, selecting the appropriate class under the Application drop-down list, and clicking Add.

If you used a saved map file, the mapping will be automatically displayed under Selected if the mapping in the file matches a class in the selected Application.

Mappings can be removed from the Selected box by selecting the mapping and clicking Remove.

  12. Click Next.
  13. Map attributes in the import file to the destination class' attributes by selecting an attribute from the import file that you want to map from the XML Attributes box and then selecting an attribute from the destination class in the Import Attributes box.
    Note:

Calculated attributes are not available for selection in this screen.

    Note:

You can You can click Auto-Map to automatically map the attributes to attributes of the same name. When this is used, the unique attribute will automatically be set as the Key Value.

The value of the attribute that is specified as the Key Value will determine which existing objects will be updated with the information from the import file. If an attribute is marked as a Key Value, every object must have a value for this attribute to complete the import successfully.
    Note:

Each attribute in the Import Attributes box can only be mapped once.

    Note:

Mapped relationship attributes cannot be use as the Key Value.
