If OnBase is licensed and configured for Full-Text Search, users can execute full-text searches from Clinician Window. Full-text searching allows users to search all indexed documents in the patient’s record. When enabled, the Full-Text Search field is available in the filter bar.

To execute a search:

  1. Select any filter options you want to apply.
  2. Type your search criteria in the Full-Text Search field.
Tip: You can press Ctrl + Alt + S to set the focus in the Full-Text Search field.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Press Enter.

    • Click the spyglass to the right of the Full-Text Search field.

Tip: Click the X in the Full-Text Search field to clear the entered search term and any search results.
Results are displayed in the content list.
    • In a wide display, the number of total results is stated to the right of the Full-Text Search field.

    • In a narrow display, the number of total results is stated below the Full-Text Search field.

    • If the filter bar contains multiple selected filters, the number of total results is reduced to an i icon displayed to the right of the Full-Text Search field. Hover over or tap the i icon to display the number of total results.

    • The number of results found per document is displayed in the Result Count column in the content list.

  4. Select a document from the results in the content list. The document is displayed in the content viewer with the full-text search term highlighted throughout the document. A search result toolbar for navigation at the top of the content viewer is also displayed.
Note: Search term highlighting is not supported for text documents, HTML Forms, or Unity Forms. When one of these document types is selected, search term highlighting is not applied and the search result toolbar is not displayed in the content viewer.
  5. From the search result toolbar, navigate to each highlighted search term by doing one of the following:
    • Click Go to next result or press Ctrl + Right Arrow to navigate to the next highlighted search term in the document.

    • Click Go to previous result or press Ctrl + Left Arrow to navigate to the previous highlighted search term in the document.

Note: The Go to next result and Go to previous result buttons are not available if no results for the search term are found.
Note: For more information on how to execute a Full-Text Search or a complex search, see the Full-Text Search documentation.
