Boston Host Service may not start due to various reasons. The following list provides possible common causes for failure and suggested solutions. For more information, see the Dialogic website.

  • Driver not installed or started. To view driver status details, run the btver utility, located in the [drive:]\brooktrout\bin\ directory. To uninstall and reinstall the Brooktrout drivers, see the Install the Brooktrout drivers section.
  • No board in server. To view the boards the driver detects, run the modinfo utility, located in the [drive:]\brooktrout\bin\ directory. If the driver does not detect the board, you may need to re-seat the board, use a different slot, or use a different module number.
  • Correct btcall.cfg and/or firmware files not being used or found. See the Create and modify driver configuration files section, and ensure that the preferences reference the correct location for firmware (\brooktrout\bin) and CFG files (\brooktrout\config).
Note: You will need to uninstall the existing fax board drivers before proceeding.
