When you delete a picklist, the Client removes both the picklist and all access control markings it contains from every associated file plan element, user, and group. Although you typically cannot modify records under a retention hold, this operation removes all markings in the deleted picklist from records under a retention hold that have the markings applied. To remove a picklist from the server permanently, complete the following steps.

This process might expend significant server resources. Perform this action during non-peak hours.
  1. In Management Console, in the left pane, under Select Department, select a department from the list.
  2. In the left pane, expand Records and click Picklists.
  3. In the Picklists pane, select the picklist you want to delete.
  4. Click the Delete button.
  5. In the prompt, click OK.
