You can manually modify a record or record folder directly beneath a record category in a File Plan Designer. Cutting off a record folder automatically closes the record folder and prevents further content from being added until the record folder is returned to the Open state. To change the cutoff state for a record or record folder in File Plan Designer, complete the following steps.

  1. In Management Console, in the left pane, under Select Department, select a department from the list.
  2. In the left pane, select Records > File Plans.
  3. On the File Plans tab, select a file plan and click Modify.
  4. In File Plan Designer, expand the file plan and select a record folder directly beneath a record category.
  5. Click Edit > Status.
  6. In the Modify Cutoff State dialog box, select an option that is available based on the current state of the folder.
