To verify Microsoft SQL Server instance prerequisites, complete the following steps.
- In SQL Server ManagementStudio, in the Object Explorer pane, right-click your server, and then click Properties. Typically, your server is the first item listed in the tree.
- In the Server Properties dialog box, under Select a Page, click Security.
- Under Server authentication, select SQL Server and Windows Authentication Mode, and click OK.

If prompted, click Yes to restart the server.
Note: Restarting the server shuts down and starts up all databases on this instance.

In SQL Server Configuration Manager, ensure the TCP/IP
Protocol is enabled for the IP address and port you intend to use for your
configuration.
