Views are classified by the way you run them. Run icons appear in the Views pane to the left of each view name. The run state determines how the search results update.
- The manual run icon
requires you to click the Go button to display the view results. A manual run view
gives you a chance to select or create a filter before displaying the results, thus
narrowing the range of the search and displaying fewer results. - The automatic run icon
indicates a view that displays its results as soon as you click it in the Views
pane. Automatic views typically return a small number of rows, so that it is less
important to apply a filter to the results before displaying them.
